THE “Junomagic” COPEPOD CULTURE TUNING KIT
£29.99 inc. tax
I have been asked over many years how I sustain my cultures long enough to get a “bloom” of Copepods Tigriopus Japonicus having sold thousands of units to date. This strain of copepods I have cultured for nearly 6 years now and is very resistant to high levels of nutrients.
The trouble is that there are so many variables from temperature, saltwater, and food introduced and type of material used even has a bearing.
This “tuning kit” will give you the answers to taking a big step forward to growing your own cultures successfully and save a lot of money in the long run. The “tuning Kit” can also be used as an approx. 2 x 3 L breeding container using the lid as well. Once you have mastered the main parameters for success. This helps avoid expensive phytoplankton and copepod cultures.
The conditions for growing copepods will differ greatly from those found in your reef tank. You can introduce copepods into a refugium, sump or amongst rock work etc. This will give a slow background of reproduction. The trouble is our reef tanks are simply not large enough in many cases to support fish such as mandarins, wrasses, butterfly and copper band fish and all smaller species of fish up to the Chromis sized fish, not to mention many corals. So we have to hothouse the copepods in sufficient numbers and add them to the reef systems for baby clowns and mandarins especially.
